Case Study: House Wine

Locally female owned and operated since 2008, House Wine is a wine bar as unpretentious and inclusive as Austin itself.

The wines are thoughtfully chosen from small production, boutique wineries and vineyards with sustainable, natural, organic and biodynamic practices from all over the world.

The House Wine family finds joy in sharing these delicious and intriguing finds with you and your family and friends in a contemporary yet cozy home in the Bouldin Creek neighborhood. Locally sourced food options to accompany the wines include an array of cheese and charcuterie boards, shared plates, tapas and Bola pizzas.

The
Challenge

Nonprofits, Parent Teacher Organizations, and other charities ask for gift cards, silent auction items, and raffle prizes from local businesses. New requests come in almost every day.

These giveaways support important causes, and businesses like to help if possible. But they often get lost in larger fundraising events, and fail to deliver any marketing benefit. In some cases, these donations go unredeemed, or are scooped up at a discount by customers that are already regulars.

Our
Solution

Rose Social Impact saw an opportunity to convert these small donation requests into bigger, better partnerships that do more to benefit both businesses and nonprofits.

The volume of requests can add up, and business owners and managers need to spend their time on the core aspects of the business. With Rose Social Impact’s custom-built technology, they can manage their donations in just a few minutes per week. Business owners retain control over whether or not donation requests are approved or declined, and get to decide what to donate. Rose Social Impact takes care of the rest, including receipt collection, donation-related marketing, and donation reporting.

And when larger partnership opportunities exist, Rose Social Impact makes it easy and mutually-beneficial for businesses and nonprofits to work together.

The
Results

House Wine receives a steady stream of donation requests. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) reached out asking for a gift card for an upcoming auction. In addition to providing two gift cards, House Wine hosted the group for an on-premise event. The nonprofit was able to invite a large group of supporters and potential supporters into an event at House Wine, with a portion of sales going back to the cause.

Instead of a simple gift card donation, the event was better for House Wine and better for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

House Wine:

  • Brought in more than $1,000 in new revenue on a Tuesday night, which is typically less busy

  • Established positive brand awareness with dozens of new customers

  • Provided an opportunity for their staff to be involved in raising money and awareness for a great cause — finding a cure for leukemia, lympoma, myeloma, and other blood cancers

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society:

  • Brought in a donation worth more than 3X their initial ask

  • Raised awareness for their cause

  • Offered a fun, social way for their supporters and potential supporters to give back, while supporting a local business

“Kevin's help and effort were more than I could’ve ever asked for. Our event was so much fun, we brought in a lot of new people, and now we’re recommending House Wine to everyone.”
